Tiffany's new 68-footer should be completed by January 2002,

BURGESS, Virg. — Scheduled for completion January 2002, the new 68-foot-long enclosed-bridge yacht from Tiffany Yachts was created using a state-of-the-art computer-aided design and lofting system. The hand-laid-up FRP hull has a solid-fiberglass bottom with an extensive stinger system and foam-cored sides. The hull design reportedly incorporates a sharp forward entry for comfortable ride in rough water and a modified V with a deep keel for stability.

"This is the first Tiffany to be built using our new CAD-assisted 5-axis CNC router system and software," said Randy Cockrell, company president in a press release from the company. "This gives us a level of precision far superior to conventional lofting methods."

Inside, the Tiffany 68 will boast extensive woodwork. The interior will include a salon with full galley, dinette and day head on the main deck, three staterooms with private heads below and enclosed bridge topside.

The salon, galley and dining area will be finished in cherry, with lightweight granite countertops. The salon will have a large, comfortable L-shaped sofa, custom entertainment center with a 45-inch flat screen television and bar for casual dining. The fully equipped galley will include a sub-zero refrigerator and freezer.

A convenient L-shaped dining area on the starboard side of the galley will seat four comfortably. A head will situated just forward of the galley. The salon opens onto a raised after deck above the cockpit with a seat and table for alfresco dining

Each of the three staterooms will have ample stowage space and its own private head with a full shower. The forward stateroom will have a queen berth, lounge seat, entertainment center and indirect lighting. The woodwork will be quarter-sawn maple with cherry inlays.

The master stateroom on the port side will feature a beautiful blending of quarter-sawn cherry and quilted maple, and will include a queen berth, love seat, dresserand his-and-her heads separated by a common walk-in shower. The maple-finished starboard bunkroom will be ideal for children or crew, with a double berth below and single above. The below-decks companionway with cherry woodwork will include a locker for washer and dryer and a navigation/communications center.

The Tiffany 68 will be powered by twin 1,800-horsepower Detroit Diesel 16V2000 engines. Major auxiliary systems will include a Westmar 25-horsepower bow thruster, Teleflex Sea Star power steering, Sea Recovery SR600 water maker, linear mufflers by Marine Exhaust Systems, two Onan 27.5-KW generators and an 8-ton tempered-water Cruisair air conditioning and heating system with programmable controls. Fuel capacity will be 2,200 gallons.
